Process

Blood

Blood is a high moisture content liquid, around 90%, highly corrosive to carbon steel. The solid material is a highly digestible protein. Kontinuer offers a prior coagulation system by temperature and centrifugation to separate the solid from the liquid. Subsequently, the clot can be dried using hot air or indirect steam. Another solution combines centrifugation with ultra-filtration to obtain plasma.

Coagulation and Drying System

In this process, blood is clotted beforehand by temperature (95°C) and subjected to centrifugation to separate the solid phase or the clot (55% moisture) from the liquid phase or serum (97% moisture). Subsequently, the clot can be dried using hot air or indirect steam. It is the most used system on the market for processing blood.

System for obtaining Plasma from bovine or swine blood

Plasma has a high market value for being suitable for animal and human nutrition. Kontinuer has developed a process that combines centrifugation with filtration for separating red blood cells. Subsequently, in order to maintain the nutraceutical characteristics of plasma, the material has to be dried using a Spraydryer type Dryer.
