Hydrolyzed Proteins

The process is used for processing meat by-products and animal co-product. Proteins are subjected to a hydrolysis process (breaking protein chains) by digestive enzymes, which results in the formation of peptides, which are short chains of amino acids. The result is a material with high palatability and functionality. Digestion is facilitated and proteins are absorbed more easily by the body. The enzymatic process requires high level control automation engineering, equipment manufactured in stainless steel, and fresh and hygienically safe co-products, which are worked on at low temperatures, thus avoiding protein denaturing.

Process

The proteins are subjected to a hydrolyzing process by digestive enzymes.

This process results in the formation of peptides, which are short chains of amino acids.

They are considered hydrolyzed proteins when below 10,000 daltons.

Applications

Animal Feed

The process ensures greater added value: poultry entrails from slaughterhouses, for example, have 15% protein, 15% fat, and 5% mineral material. The end result is a protein hydrolysate, which is broadly used in feed production.

Human Food

An alternative that allows to increase the added value is the use of raw materials classified for human consumption. Omega 3, for example, can be obtained from fish fat. The hydrolyzed collagen provides many health benefits, such as ensuring muscle and tissue firmness, maintaining skin elasticity, and strengthening nails and hair. The absence of the substance in the organism leads to the appearance of wrinkles, joint problems, and skin flaccidity.

Nutraceutical Component

Hydrolyzed proteins can be used in supplements developed for the specific needs of athletes, the elderly, and those of people with nutritional deficiencies.
